KENNESAW, Ga. — There is one final week remaining in the 2025 College Football regular season, AKA Rivalry week. This season the Kennesaw State Owls are one of the three teams that are likely to make the Conference USA Championship game. Here are the scenarios that get them there.

To start, their upcoming game this weekend against Liberty University is a must win for Kennesaw to get into the Championship. The reason for this is as follows:

  • The Owls lost to Jacksonville State two weekends ago
  • Jax State and Western Kentucky play to end the season
  • KSU and Western Kentucky have not played each other this season

In order for the Owls to make it, at least one of the following must also happen:

  • If Jacksonville State beats WKU, the Owls are in and will play at Jax State in a rematch.
  • If Western Kentucky beats JSU the Owls are in and will play WKU in Bowling Green for the Championship.
  • If Western Kentucky beats JSU and the Owls lose to Liberty, WKU will host JSU for the Championship.

Unfortunately, there is no scenario where Kennesaw State could host a CUSA Championship this season.

If the Owls do make the Championship, it will be their first appearance in the game in only their second season in the FBS and CUSA. It would also come in Coach Jerry Mack’s first season as the Head Coach for KSU adding on to his impressive season so far. Just last year the Owls finished 2-10 and so far this season have dramatically turned it around to be 8-3 so far this season.

If the Owls can improve to 9-3 and make the CUSA Championship the game will take place Friday, December 5, 2025 and will be televised on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. EST that night.
